Are we right for
each other?

We know choosing a school is a big deal. To help in your decision-making process, we’ve gathered all the essential information here, including the application process, tuition and fees, and answers to the most frequently asked questions.

It’s important to learn as much as you can about our learning center in an effort to determine whether we are a good fit for your children and for you. Here are some recommendations we have for you to:

  • Read our Manifesto. What resonates with you?
  • Clarify your long-term vision for ‘success in school’.

Does it match our learning objectives?

  • What kind of family are you?
What kind of families do you want around?

  • Go visit other schools to ensure you understand the options available to you.

We recommend you check at least two other schools.

  • Do a reality-check: How do our fees fit your family budget? Short and long-term. How will the routine and location of our school fit your family’s schedule and way of life?

  • Come and talk to us. Sign up for an online chat to ask our admissions team any questions. If you have any questions not answered by our website, send it to us through this online form.

How do you know if this school is right for your child and your family?

The key question is how do you define “success in school?”

The way our family defines
“success in school“ is:

  1. Our main focus as a family is on grades and exams.

Choose a more traditional school focused on national or international exams.

  2. Our main focus as a family is on holistic learning and life-readiness, as well as a strong academic foundation.

Join us at Colina Learning Center

  3. Our main focus as a family is on creativity, freedom and flexibility.

Choose a more experimental school with less structure and a more fluid curriculum.

How do we know your family is right for this school and our learning community?

At Colina Learning Center, we are a community of active learners. We join and support each other on our own paths of continuous learning. We are aware that life nowadays requires a great deal of learning. There are over 100 days of learning per year required of an adult in 2018.

More importantly, we understand our role as adults to lead children in learning. Who we are and how we behave will influence children a lot more than any curriculum. Both teachers and parents make a commitment to continuously improve because children deserve the best versions of the adults in their lives.

We challenge and support each other to grow and develop. We appreciate the support offered by the school and the rest of the community to keep us in the learning dynamic.

The key question is how much do you as adults value your own learning and development?

  1. We are fully formed adults, we don’t believe we need to learn anymore.

Choose a more traditional school with minimal parent involvement.

  2. We know we will continue to learn and develop circumstantially and we are open to occasional learning activities.

Choose a school with an ‘add-on’ approach to parent involvement. (optional and occasional)

  3. We are committed to our own learning and development. We value life-long learning both for ourselves and for our child(ren). We are modeling learning and development for our child(ren).

Join us at Colina Learning Center with our customized, personalized approach to an integrated child-adult curriculum.

If you are an active learner, you will feel right at home.

This is not a school for everyone.

We are a school for families who like to learn.

This is the profile of the families joining us.

We are right only for those parents who are determined to keep growing and learning. They are active learners, they prioritize learning and allot resources (time and money) for their learning and development.

We call them “dynamic, enlightened families.”

They are in their 30s and 40s,  they have one or two children. They are successful professionals, able to choose where they live and work. They expose themselves to learning and inspiration on a weekly basis.

They are ethical and idealistic. They have great expectations from themselves and their children. They will have great expectations from the school.

They want to be surrounded by others like themselves who will support and enhance their growth and development. We want to provide a school for these ‘life-long learning’ adults who want a tribe of like-minded people.

Our scalable, flexible mode will enable us to provide education wherever these ‘life-learning families’ are based.

Comparatively to other countries, Romania has one of the lowest rates of participation in life-long learning in the EU (0.9 %). At CLC we will have a 100% rate of participation in adult learning.

What are your limitations for admissions?

Our vision is for a diverse and inclusive English-based international school.

We aim not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability, or age.

We do have criteria for admissions and limitations related to the size and stage of our development, as well as our educational philosophy.

The most important aspect is the alignment between the values and the vision of the family and those of Colina Learning Center. We especially appreciate a willingness to learn, to contribute, honesty and accountability. Our admissions process provides opportunities for powerful conversations to enable us to identify the level of alignment between the family and our community.

  • We are opening in September 2021 with a small Preschool and Early Primary setting and we will grow gradually.
  • Due to our limited staff and number of learners, we cannot accommodate children who are not potty trained and confident in their movement (no children younger than 2.5 years).
  • We will not be able to cater for special need requirements until our team grows and, in turn, only then will we be able to offer the additional nurturing required.
  • For primary school children, we will assess their level of English and provide additional support if necessary. For preschool learners, we do not have any minimum English language requirements.
  • We are a not-for-profit association running a fee-paying learning center. We aim to provide flexible and fair financial access. We support families through discounts and special offers which are transparent on our website. We will not be able to provide additional discounts or financial support other than that which is mentioned publicly online.
