The famous African proverb says ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. At CLC we work with the quartet of community members, parents and families, learning designers, and students themselves to bring the power of our learning village to life.
Through our Learning Partnership Meetings we regularly bring together our dynamic and enlightened families, passionate and professional staff, engaged community members, and wonderful students.
These meetings are used for a multitude of objectives. From co-creating learning expeditions, through resolving problems, to celebrating our student's learning. Together we are able to have a transformational effect on our students and community.
Colina Learning Center welcomes the whole family and encourages a multi-generational community. Adults are involved in preparing and leading ‘expeditions’ for both children and other parents. Families can participate in many school activities, but also lead learning and share expertise on fascinating topics ranging from building a mindfulness practice to starting a business.
We also involve parents as co-creators of our learning model. The first families to join us will contribute to the development of our curriculum through active participation and ongoing feedback and suggestions.
