Our first campus is organized in Colina Noua, a beautiful and peaceful residential project being developed in the North of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
We have many ‘green’ features from the beginning:
We are constantly working to further minimize our carbon footprint and be a model for sustainability.
Our learners will learn to be always aware of their impact on the planet and our environment.
At Colina Learning Center, we are developing a harmonious community of like-minded families, aligned in values and life vision. Dynamic and enlightened families who want to thrive in a connected world will feel right at home with us.
Learn moreOur Physical and Digital Learning Environments place a continued emphasis on the whole journey (mind, body, spirit, emotions), not just brain and content, and have a bias towards the outdoors. Our school sometimes feels like a home. Other times like a work-place. Often like a playground. Occasionally like a temple.
Learn moreWe measure success by the impact on our learners 10 years after they’ve graduated. We look at the 26-28 year old. Until 26 we are still capable of developing essential emotional and mental skills that will enhance our chances at a successful life. What do they need to thrive at 26 and later? Once we have identified these key competencies, we start to develop them from the first steps in school.
All members of our community, no matter their age or background, are active learners, they prioritize learning and allot resources for their learning and development. What we all have in common is a passion for growth.
Colina Learning Center welcomes the whole family and encourages a multi-generational community. Adults are involved in preparing and leading ‘expeditions’ for both children and other parents. Families can participate in many school activities, but also lead learning and share expertise on fascinating topics ranging from building a mindfulness practice to starting a business.
We also involve parents as co-creators of our learning model. The first families to join us contribute to the development of our curriculum through active participation and ongoing feedback and suggestions.
Our school spaces facilitate a collaborative approach to learning and developing the community. Most spaces are versatile, allowing for the creation of different room environments, fit for both individual and group work.
The spaces are alive with children’s work, learning is visible everywhere and the school walls keep changing to reflect school work. Every single area in the school becomes a learning area providing access to “anywhere, anytime learning”. As the learner’s work evolves, so does the school. For children, it will feel like they are coming to a new school every week.
Learning will not be limited to a building, ‘the school”, but the premises of the school stretch to incorporate the whole world. Learners spend a lot of time outside the school campus. They learn in the ‘real world’ because they will live in the real world.
“Outside” first of all means in nature. We have a principle of “Nature Every Day”: outdoor learning is central to every learning expedition, so nature, plants, and even animals are an integral part of learning at CLC.
“Outside” also means in the community. Through their projects and holistic learning, learners are required to contact the adults in their different roles: parents and relatives, neighbors and friends, professionals and workers. There is no separation between ‘school life’ and “real life, ‘school work’ and ‘real work’.
